i looked at the downloadable audiobooks. i had actually downloaded the hunchback of notre dame for katie when she had to read it, but with the way it was written, it was easier for her to read it. i found several books that i might listen to sometime.

weni, widi, wiki - I came to the website, I saw lots of stuff, I conquered something (maybe).

if you're looking for some stuff just for fun, wiki is great. if you need accurate information, then it is good, but i would try to find another source to back it up. you never know who entered the "facts". the person might know what they are talking about but then again, they could be completely making things up.

well, it's amazing what we are able to do with technology. find information easier and faster than ever before. it's nice that books can be downloaded, but there is something about holding the book in your hand while you read it...plus the book doesn't need to be plugged in...it can still be read when the power goes out.

security gates beeping too much? or maybe the gate are trying to tell you something and you are not getting the message. here are a few handy phrases that i have translated:

has this ever happened to you: a customer insists that 21 days is not 3 weeks? you would probably assume that they are crazy/stupid/mathematically challenged- or all three at the same time. however, it could be possible that they are right! 21 day might not be 3 weeks on their home planet!

if it's never to late or too soon to learn things, then right now is the perfect time...no...now....

7.5 things:

1- set goals. i am excellent at setting goal. it's just that i don't exactly keep them. trust me, you don't want to see all the half finished projects that i have.
2-accept responsibility for you're own learning. do i have to? just kidding.
3- view problems as challenges. i like challenges. i like to come up with creative solutions.
4- have confidence in youself as a competent and effective learner. i'm learning how. being part of an improv group helped a lot.
5- create your own learning tool box. this is hard. i flunked industrial arts class. oh, not a literal tool box, a figurative tool box.
6- use technology to your advantage. every day.
7- tech/mentor others. very good idea.
7.5- play! this one i am the best at!

so, now it's time to learn.....no....wait.....NOW

doubleners - the people who want their books checked out and renewed at the same time. Here are some ways in which they ask for this: Can I have these for the longer period of time? Can you double renew these? Can I have the, um, you know, uh, these, um, for the more time?

instamatics -people who put their books in the book drop and then come in and are confused about why the books are not off their record yet.

touch-downers-people who place their library card on the counter even though you had put your hand out to take their card.

stop, drop, & runners -people who put their return books in the return slot at the counter even though someone is standing right there

____________-people who hold their library cards in their mouth and then hand it to you when it's their turn to have their items checked out.

____________-people who ask for you to renew their book after you have cleared it from their record.

___________- people who start talking to someone on a cell phone right in the middle of waited on at the check out counter or information desk.

___________-people who say "I just have 50 more pages to print, I'll be done in a sec."

confusedcius-people who ask "Why are the lights off? Are you closing? Since when does the library close so early?
