freak #9, rant 23

my review of the 23 things in quotes:

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.
-Charles Dickens,
A Tale of Two Cities

Technology is dominated by two types of people: those who understand what they do not manage, and those who manage what they do not understand.
-Putt's Law

"Reeling and Writhing, of course, to begin with,"' the Mock Turtle replied; "and then the different branches of Arithmetic--Ambition, Distraction, Uglification, and Derision."
-Lewis Carroll

"To go wrong in one's own way is better than to go right in someone else's."
-Fyodor Dostoevsky

"Progress was a labyrinth . . . people plunging blindly in and then rushing wildly back, shouting that they had found it."
-F. Scott Fitzgerald

Every one wanted to say so much that no one said anything in particular.
-Rudyard Kipling

i looked at the downloadable audiobooks. i had actually downloaded the hunchback of notre dame for katie when she had to read it, but with the way it was written, it was easier for her to read it. i found several books that i might listen to sometime.

i looked at the web 2.0 awards and tried sever sites from the winners.

http://www.onesentence.org/ - i submitted a sentence about seeing the daughter my friend had given up for adoption while at a kid's birthday party.

freak #8, rant 18

it's good that Google has web-based word processing capabilities. competition for word is good, but it just lacks a certain je ne sais quoi. this post will be short and semi-sweet. i just don't have much to say at the moment.

freak #7, rant 16 & 17

weni, widi, wiki - I came to the website, I saw lots of stuff, I conquered something (maybe).

if you're looking for some stuff just for fun, wiki is great. if you need accurate information, then it is good, but i would try to find another source to back it up. you never know who entered the "facts". the person might know what they are talking about but then again, they could be completely making things up.

looked at a few favorites, and added a comment.

well, it's amazing what we are able to do with technology. find information easier and faster than ever before. it's nice that books can be downloaded, but there is something about holding the book in your hand while you read it...plus the book doesn't need to be plugged in...it can still be read when the power goes out.
